+This article provides a brief overview of encryption and data protection built into Windows 11.

+When people travel with their computers and devices, their confidential information travels with them. Wherever confidential data is stored, it must be protected against unauthorized access, whether through physical device theft or from malicious applications. Windows has a long history of providing at-rest data-protection solutions that guard against nefarious attackers, starting with the Encrypting File System (EFS) in the Windows 2000 operating system.
