Creating an Inventory-Collector Package

You can use Application Compatibility Manager (ACM) to create an inventory-collector package. You can then deploy the inventory-collector package to other computers to gather inventory data. The package uploads inventory data to the Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT) database.
To create an inventory-collector package

In ACM, click Collect to open the Collect screen.

On the File menu, click New.

Click Application inventory.

Provide the information that is requested for the package, and then click Create.

Browse to the location where you want to save the Windows® Installer (.msi) file for the package.
You can use this .msi file to install the inventory-collector package on each computer for which you want to gather inventory data.

Type a file name for the .msi file, and then click Save.

Click Finish.
